Tips for caring for your farm fresh cut flowers
For the longest vase life for your farm fresh flowers;
Farm fresh flowers are the freshest flowers you can get and they “drink”
much more water then flowers that you usually get. Be sure to check your flower vessels water every day. Top off with fresh cold water when it gets low.
Use flower food for the longest vase life. Flower food “feeds” your cut flowers but also has ingredients to prevent bacteria buildup.
We recommend you completely empty old water and replace your flowers water with fresh water every other day. Adding a fresh packet of flower food to the new water.
Every few days cut the end of your flower stems at a 45 degree angle using floral shears, or scissors. This allows your flowers to “drink” up the water easier and stay hydrated allowing them to have their longest vase life.
Keep your flowers out of direct sunlight or heat.
Keep your flower vessels clean. Your vases should be washed with warm soapy water at minimum after each use. If you want to take the extra step and sanitize your vessels between use add bleach to your soapy water and let it soak for 15-20 minutes before washing out.
Keep your flowers away from ripening fruit.
Remove any leaves or foliage that will sit below the water line as that could cause bacteria buildup and shorten the vase life of your flowers.
Remove any flowers from the vase that are wilting or do not look fresh any more so that they do not affect the vase life of the other flowers.
