It doesn't look like much right now but we are starting to see signs of spring arriving on the farm. Some tulip and daffodil foliage is starting to break through the ground. Peony shoots are pushing through. We still are weeks out (usually in MAY) from blooms and harvesting flowers but the signs of life we are seeing brings us joy here on the farm.
Please consider us for your mothers day flowers and don't forget to head over to our website www.mcleantoinspire.com to sign up for our newsletter to get updates for the upcoming season, flowers, news, Farmstand, hours and more.
exciting things are in the works!

The Farm was blessed with a much needed blanket of snow last night!
We would normally have had much colder temps and received much more snowfall throughout the winter here then we have so far. We have been a little concerned here about the lack of moisture here on the farm as we plan our growing season. We have chosen to trust God as we make our farms spring and summer plans. This beautiful blanket of snow gives us much needed hope and moisture.

This winter our family has taken time to step back, rest and reflect. Taking time to care for ourselves and focus on spending time as a family. We have spent lots of time in prayer and consideration. Prioritizing, defining and focusing on what really matters.
As a result of this intentional time we have decided to make some changes in the business. While we have interests and loves in many areas we have had to make the prayerful decisions to say no to some opportunities and areas in our lives. While Saying no comes with its own goodbyes and emotions it allows us to open space in our hearts and our schedules to say yes to the things we feel God just calling us to focus on right now. A simple fortune cookie this last week validated what our prayers and answers from God already had in the prior few weeks.
One major and exciting change is the expansion of the farm. We are adding a large area of our property into the flower farm production fields. We have chosen to say no to some previous commitments and new opportunities to focus on prioritizing the Flower Farm and Florist services. You may notice changes to our website in the following months and to some of the services we offer. We will be adding new services and taking away or changing some previous services. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to us.

This growing season we are expanding our flower farm into a previously unused area of our field.
This is going to increase the amount of flowers we have and allow us to provide more beautiful bouquets this coming spring, summer and fall then ever before. We will be Adding new varieties and keeping ones we have loved while working hard on land restoration and drastically increasing our perennials and water wise plants and flowers.
We will be keeping our organic farming practices priority while with a focus on water conservation as well.
All of our flowers are seasonal and locally grown here in Wyoming on our farm. Our growing season typically runs from May-September/ October depending on the crazy Wyoming weather.

We grow our flowers in a way that gives back to the land and not just take from it. They are free from toxic chemicals and pesticides commonly used in the flower farming and production industry. Our flowers are not imported they are locally grown, posses fragrance and character.
Each of our bouquets in arranged in a vase, one of a kind pieces of art.

For the average home gardener it may be to much to brave the cold and the snow just to go outside and plant some last minute fall bulbs and seeds.
For us as a small family owned flower farm its two of us, a husband and wife as our staff. With limited time and hands late fall bulb planting has been a common occurrence. With only so much time to get these bulbs in the ground and so little staff we do what we have to. For each of the 3 fall planting seasons our farm has been in business we have been out there in the cold and snow planting the remaining fall bulbs. This week we are working on planting the several hundred bulbs we have left to plant. These are just several hundred of the thousands of fall bulbs our flower farm planted this year.
In addition we rototilled up a patch of the farm that is designated for winter seed sowing. When farming in a unique climate like that of Wyoming, for us hardiness zone 4! We have to find ways to take advantage of our frigid cold temps and short growing season. Certain seeds need a period of cold stratification before they germinate and that allows them to sprout and grown in the spring. For us that means moving snow off the ground and direct sowing these seeds to allow for this natural process to occur. Last year was our first year trying this and it greatly helped extend our growing season, flower options and drastically increased flower production for us. We are adding new varieties of seeds to our trials this year and continuing with some of the previous varieties we tried last year that did best for us.
This is all just one part of the crazy life of "Flower Farming in the Wild West" check out our blog post; "Flower Farming in the Wild West" from last growing season on our website to read more about everything we have to do here on the farm. Watch for more blog posts and updates. We are exited to see the beautiful flowers these seeds and bulbs produce in the coming growing season.

After thoughtful & prayerful. consideration we have decided to close the farmstand for the winter season. With our primary product of farm fresh flowers being done for the season. While also considering the impact of the harsh winter weather on the products currently in the farmstand. In addition to the lack of customers over the last few months we have decided to close the farmstand until the growing season starts back up.
Our family has worked extremely hard pushing long hours, harsh weather and more challenges both business and personal related for many months. We are physically and mentally exhausted. The work that goes into farming, especially in a place as unique as Wyoming takes a tole on the body and the mind. Farming takes much time away from self care, family time and activities and our family is going to use this off season to focus on the things that truly matter.
God has gifted us with many wonderful things and were going to take this winter to step back, slow down and reflect on all the simple and amazing things we already have. Focusing on God, our marriage and our family while caring for our self’s.
We pray that your family takes this slow winter season to reflect on your own lives and if there is any changes you want to make in your schedules and priorities.
If you are in need of some inspiration I recommend out blog post “Finding Hope in the Dead of Winter”
